Final Project
Proposal
Based on any misinformation students were made to form in groups to create a
video explaining the misinformation to targeted audience.
Our group chose to do MSG and the misinformation of "MSG is bad for health"
Proposal PPT
Script
Mood Board
Based on the script and storyboard, animatics were made by me with sketches to show how
overall transitions are going to be and see the overall vibe of the video.
In a nutshell YouTube videos were used as reference as it has fascinating
vector animations and they create infographic videos, which is what we are
suppose to do for this project.
The group was divided into 3 groups based on their specialties which were
vector illustrations, animations and sound effects.
Vector Illustrations
The illustrations were done by three of the group mates. The illustrations
are referenced from artworks of in a nutshell videos in YouTube.

Item Illustrations
Background Illustrations
Animations by using After Effects
My task was to do the animations of the video using the illustrations the
group mates have made. There were changes made from the animatics to parts
which could be improved and be better.
Tutorial for character rigging
Progress
By importing the character illustration AI files to After effect, Duix pluggin was used to rig the characters to apply the movements.
There were more than 20 scenes in the video, the transitions moving to the next scene had to be different so that it could be more enthusiastic. Every scene were composed into one composition and masked the whole thing so that it could smoothly move on to next scene.
Transitions using masking
One of the most interesting animation was the change of color of the mouse when injected msg as I have never done it before. After rigging the mouse illustration AI, it was composed into composition and applied lumetri color and added time frame to change the color as soon as it is injected with msg.
Another interesting scene i had fun working with was the bouncing animation where the items had to be stretched and squashed at certain timing to create smooth bouncing animation.
Generally all the movements of all elements had to refine speed so that the movements were not too gimmicky and adjusting the speed was the main factor slowing down the whole process.
Sound effects
For background music in a nutshell background music was used.
Other sound effects of wind sounds when scenes change, items falling, in and mouse sounds were edited by one of the members.
Final Outcome
The final outcome really succeed the general vibe and atmosphere we were planning from the start with clean vector illustrations with smooth animations. The sound effects really helped to enhance the general animations and improved the overall atmosphere.
Final Reflection
Experience
Overall creating infographics came easy due to previous modules with typography, design principles and interactive design to build a basic knowledge of how design elements to be used and which typeface is suitable to be used. The animation was the most entertaining part in this module and had most fun as Ive learned the basics of after effects but never used the skills properly after I've achieved some skills. Overall the module was fun and enjoyed most of the time.
Observation
Through this module i began to see more infographics around me and realized there are lots of infographic that I wasn't aware of. it was interesting to see and understand how major companies designed infographics as instructions and all. It was interesting to see different methods of infographics were used and which method suits in certain situation.
Findings
As it was a short semester i didn't have time for much research on how professional designers have made inforaphics but managed to understand there are many methods of displaying the data into different style based on the data. It was interesting to design infographics with given different types of data and gained experience why some methods work and some doesn't work. Overall had a great and interesting findings of designing the display of data through this module.
