Project 4

Cinematography - Surrealistic Parallax

On this assignment, a surreal collage animation is to be made. 

Attempt 01

Initial idea was a gate or a door to another dimension. To combine two totally different environment together such as desert and ocean sunny day and winter climate environments and etc. I have decided to carry on with door which opens up to a sky view.

To make it more surreal Two moons orbiting the earth were to be added and red pandas just goofing around.

To make it more interesting I've decided to put red pandas on balloons floating around.

Collage Composition

The composition is made by photoshop and moved on to after effect for animation.

This work did not contain any of my own photographs so it could not be used as final outcome. 

Attempt 02

Based on the photos that I have, I've decided to go with the two photo of a sky view that I took in Malaysia and a mirror that i took in Korea. The intention of the design is to show two sides of me where I am from, Korea and where I love to stay and spent most of my life in Malaysia.

To add surrealism Owls and Aurora and the two moon used from previous attempt was added to create magical appearance.

Final Outcome

Rationale

The final outcome has very simple and calming visual as intended. The mild gentle animation and the warm hue helps it to have calm appearance. The idea of an owl derived from the movie Harry potter Headwig as it enhance the mysterious and magical look. The overall Ive enhanced warm color using camera raw filter from Photoshop to bring out warmth of the sunset. Im very satisfied with the simple and gentle outcome.
