Final Project - Visual Analysis
For the final project it is divided in to 3 phrase.First a design
of the student's choice of poster / billboard / illustrations or etc had
to be chosen.
In the first phase the design chosen have to be observed and identify
the visual elements and describe them and also analyse the design
principles of the design.
On the next phase the design based on the observation, analysis and the
description
find the historical context and meaning and purpose behind it.

Design Work inspired by Chosen Artwork
The artwork chosen had used textured brushes and rough lines and looks as if
it is painted on canvas rather than digitally painted. Ive searched for brush
strokes and explored them to sinf a suitable one to use it for this
assignment.
An illustrator named Imad Awan, draws digital illustrations which have rough
brush strokes and appearance that it was drawn by hand on canvas. he has
a youtube channel with tutorials and introductions for textured brush strokes
which were very useful for the assignment.

Sampled brush 4 12 was mostly used for this artwork. The illustration did not
have much texture nor rough brush strokes intended and did not had the
characteristics of the chosen artwork.

Sampled brush 4 12 was mostly used again after drawing simple sketch.

The owl and the mushroom composition were interesting to work with and I have
decided to continue with this design more to bring out more characteristics of
the chosen artwork. Sampled brush 8 4 was used on top and the background was
removed and redrawn using blue hue similar to the chosen artwork.

Sampled brush 8 9 had the texture I was looking for and it was able to create
the brush strokes which gave the appearance of gouache painting / oil
painting.
Final Outcome

| Fig 3.11 |
Rationale
I have researched how digital artists paints and what brushes that they use an
it really helped to understand how much the program works and the tools that
could bring out the best illustration. The textured brushes I have found
helped a lot to bring out the brush strokes as if it was painted on a canvas
with paint. I have tried to follow the design principles present on the chosen artwork such as the elements are alignments of the elements in the middle use of complimentary colors of blue and yellow to create emphasis. The harmony created using strong colors and unity of same textures of brush strokes and the random rhythm of the strokes. Overall I'm happy with the outcome as it contains both of the characteristics of the illustrator and mine, and would plan to use it for
future.
Feedback
Design 02 had more potential to proceed as it had more magical visual and potential to tackle with to achieve the same appearance with the artwork chosen. When Fig 3.10 was shown the colors did not match with the artwork chosen and too bright. Fig 3.11 meets the desired texture and the contrast successfully.
